BURNETTS – A Trusted Name In Business.

Jimmy McGregor is a grandson of Bob Burnett, of Ashburton.

Many will remember the late R.A. (Bob) Burnett as the founder of Burnett's Motors. Bob came from humble beginnings at Hinds where he started his first business as a motor mechanic, aged 17.

In 1927, he started a carrying business at Hinds with just one truck. Just 30 years later Bob Burnett owned a fleet of more than 100 vehicles, employed between 200-300 staff with combined sales of his five companies turning over 2 million pounds per year.

When he died in 1983, Burnetts Motors was known throughout the South Island for transport, engineering and contracting. Bob Burnett is remembered as one of Ashburton's greatest sons and memories of him continue to linger. A biography is currently in the process of being published by his youngest daughter, Adrienne Francis.

Jimmy McGregor carries on this company name, as it is remains synonymous with honesty, integrity, reliability and commitment. Jimmy is dedicated to insuring that the same work ethics his grandfather had are used by all his staff – from the beginning of a task right through to the completion.
